Barkers are delighted to announce that for the second year in succession, we have been certified as a carbon neutral company.

Working with the team at Positive Planet, Barkers have undergone a complete review of the company’s carbon footprint, and are pleased to announce that whilst our carbon emissions have increased overall as a result of our business growth in the last year, as a percentage per head, our carbon emissions have actually decreased by 46%.

The team have committed to a carbon reduction plan which will tackle the areas within the business where currently our emissions are greatest, and will address the internal processes that facilitate our data capture and analysis of carbon data. This will give us even greater visibility of our ‘carbon hotspots’ within the business and enable us to continue to focus our efforts on the areas which will have greatest positive impact on the planet.

As a sign of our commitment to offset our emissions, Barkers has commissioned the planting of nearly 1,000 trees and the removal of nearly 1,000 pieces of plastic from the ocean.

Barkers’ Director, Warren Kozera said “We’re delighted to be certified carbon neutral for a second year in succession. As a business we have come so far in such a short space of time. Our emissions per head have dropped by a massive 46% and the permanent team have undergone carbon literacy training which supports us all to do the right thing for the planet daily. This certification follows our silver status as a Carbon Literate Organisation earlier this year and we are now striving for gold, as we continue to influence our wider procurement network to think green too.”
