Barkers is proud to announce that, for the second year running, the company has been certified as carbon neutral.
Working with sustainability specialists Positive Planet, Barkers carried out a comprehensive assessment of its carbon footprint. As the business has grown over the past year, total emissions have increased; however, emissions per employee have decreased by 46%, highlighting significant progress in improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
This improvement reflects Barkers’ ongoing commitment to sustainability, carbon reduction, and responsible business growth. The company has implemented a structured carbon reduction plan focused on the highest-emission areas of its operations, alongside enhanced internal processes for tracking, capturing, and analysing carbon data.
Greater visibility of organisational “carbon hotspots” is enabling Barkers to prioritise targeted action and deliver more meaningful reductions in environmental impact over time.
In addition to reduction initiatives, Barkers continues to invest in verified carbon offsetting projects. These include the commissioning of nearly 1,000 trees planted and the removal of almost 1,000 pieces of plastic from the ocean, supporting global reforestation and ocean clean-up efforts.
Through these combined efforts, Barkers remains committed to reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining sustainable growth and improving long-term environmental performance.
