2020 has been a difficult year. As finances have been tightened for most, charitable organisations have found that revenue streams have been tightened to breaking point. This, in the context that, for many, demand for their services has grown significantly.
At the heart of Barkers is a commitment to do the right thing by our clients, but also to do the right thing by society. That’s why, throughout the year, the team dedicate time to supporting charities and not for profit organisations. This year it’s been ever more crucial to continue this work.
During 2020 we have provided much-needed commercial advice on a pro-bono basis to a number of different organisations, including:
- The charitable and social enterprise board
- Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network
- Jobs Friends Houses CIC
- Other organisations within the charity and social sector.
The value of the work we’ve gifted this year has been in excess of £100,000, and we will continue to offer our support to organisations which share our social value principles. We also continue to invest time in our social enterprise, LifeScape.
Each year we also offer a Christmas donation to organisations that are close to the hearts of members of the Barkers team. This year we have placed donations with:
Brain Tumour Research

Urban Outreach is a charity providing food for households in crisis; and providing support for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable adults and young people in Bolton. The charity aims to reach all communities in need of help, support and to provide a range of volunteering opportunities to add value to the impact of work.
